Deleting your account
Updated 1 September 2026 · This policy describes what the software actually does, checked against the code that does it. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer; where that matters, it is said in the text rather than implied by a banner.
1. From inside the app
Open Settings from the top right of any screen, go to Your account, and choose Delete my account. Lumen asks once to be sure and then does it. There is no waiting period, no email to confirm, and no support ticket.
The app returns to the state of a first launch. The tokens on your device are discarded at the same moment, because a device still holding a bearer for an identity that no longer exists would spend the next hour asking a deleted person questions.
Settings → Your account → Export my data gives you everything we hold, as a file, if you would rather keep a copy before you go.
2. What is deleted
Everything the server holds for you, in a single database transaction: it all goes, or none of it does.
Your Ensemble profile and every post and comment on it; the likes you gave, the accounts you followed, the accounts you blocked and the reports you filed. The feedback you sent and the votes you cast on other people’s. Your bookmarks and your highlights. Your subscription entitlement. Your sign-in methods, and every session on every device.
It cannot be undone, and nothing is kept in a recycle bin against the day you change your mind.
3. Deleting some of it, without closing the account
A bookmark and a highlight are removed where they are made, one at a time, and the removal reaches the server: they are gone from every device you read on, not hidden on this one.
For anything the app has no button for, write to valentin@arthea.io saying what you want removed. We will remove it and tell you when it is done. You do not have to close your account to ask.
4. What was never ours to delete
Prayer, the tradition you answered at onboarding and your reading trail never leave your device. They are not deleted here because they were never sent; removing the app removes them with it.
If you turned analytics on, those events carry a rotating pseudonym we cannot link back to an identity. They are unreachable rather than withheld, and they expire on their own after twenty-five months, enforced by a job that runs every night. Withdrawing consent rotates the pseudonym and drops whatever is still queued on the device.
5. Your subscription is separate
Deleting your account ends what Lumen holds. It does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play: only the store that took the payment can do that.
Cancel it there first. Otherwise you keep being charged for an account that no longer exists.
6. If you have already removed the app
An account you never signed in to carries no name, no email address and no device identifier. That is the point of it, and it is also why, once the app is gone, there is nothing left for us to search by. Reinstall Lumen, sign in if you had, and delete from Settings.
If you signed in with Apple or Google, write to valentin@arthea.io from the address you used and we will delete the account and everything attached to it. Lumen is operated by ARTHEA LLC.
